ECEDA Hosts Industry Resources Seminar

April 7, 2008

On Friday April 7, 2008 the Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) in partnership with the Alabama Development Office presented a seminar on incentives and resources available to local manufacturers.  A diverse group of Elmore County industries representing a variety of different products were present at the meeting at the Wetumpka Civic Center meeting room.  Presentations were given by Eric Basinger, Executive Director of ECEDA; Roy S. Goldfinger, attorney; and Gary Faulkner, Senior Project Manager with the Alabama Development Office.

The seminar highlighted local, state and federal resources for job growth and investment in new technologies.  Some of the resources presented at the seminar were the presentation of tax abatements, exporting assistance, and tax-exempt bond financing.   ECEDA offered to facilitate a meeting between export counseling services as well as one-on-one incentive identification meetings for local companies that had immediate needs.

“Seminars and workshops like this one are organized so that our existing industry base to be more competitive and successful.  The knowledge of cost saving resources as well as new customer producing resources can be critical to a company’s bottom line and their ability to retain jobs and expand, “ said Eric Basinger, Executive Director of ECEDA.  ECEDA plans to host an additional seminar in a few months as this one was fully reserved and several companies expressed that they wished to attend a future event.
