Tallassee’s Corporate Park just secured a spot at the top of the list.
Tallassee Mayor George McCain was presented with a certificate to designate the corporate park as an AdvantageSite location during Tuesday’s Unity Breakfast at the Wetumpka Civic Center.
“This lets industries looking to locate that our corporate park know we have the majority of the necessary infrastructure to locate here and be ready to work,” McCain said.
The AdvantageSite program requires that community economic development organizations provide documentation specific to a proposed industrial site, including a set of standard date related to ownership/control, environmental and geotechnical conditions and infrastructure status. Sites must also meet size, zoning and accessibility requirements.
“The designation of the Tallassee Corporate Park as an AdvantageSite is an accomplishment we have worked toward diligently with the Tallassee Industrial Development Board,” said Barry Mask, executive director for the Elmore County Economic Development Authority.
The AdvantageSite program is jointly sponsored by the Alabama Development Office, Alabama Gas Corporation, Alabama Power Company, EDPA, the North Alabama Industrial Development Association and PowerSouth Energy Cooperative.
“Highway 229 in Tallassee is already the industrial corridor of the county with the presence of multiple international companies,” said Richard Dorley, chairman of the Tallassee Industrial Development Board. “Now, with the AdvantageSite designation for the Tallassee Corporate Park, we will be able to attract additional new industry and jobs to one of the finest industrial parks in the state.”
The voluntary industrial site preparedness program was created in order to make the state more competitive for companies considering a location in Alabama.
