The Elmore County Commission, through the Elmore County Highway Department, recently hosted a meeting of Elmore County mayors, Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) and the Elmore County Board of Education (BOE) to update the current city/county infrastructure plan for Elmore County.
The existing countywide infrastructure plan was developed and adopted countywide in 2007.
The current plan had input and “buys in” from all Elmore County municipalities including the city of Prattville, the Elmore County BOE, the Elmore County Commission and ECEDA.
Since its inception, the plan has undergone updates and minor modifications.
Newly elected officials now comfortable with their grasp of the infrastructure needs locally, met to reevaluate and update the city/county infrastructure plan.
Each jurisdiction prepared a written list of infrastructure projects and needs for their respective communities.
The top two projects on the list remain intersection improvement at Alabama Highway 14 and 143 and widening of Highway 14 between Wetumpka and Millbrook.
We hope to have the plan available for citizen review by the end of March 2011 on our webpage at www.elmoreco.org.
