Community, business and government leaders from around Elmore County will gather Thursday evening at the Whitewater Ridge Clubhouse in Wetumpka. The Summer Unity Social is hosted by the Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA).

“This is ECEDA’s third Unity event for Elmore County in 2011,” said Barry Mask, ECEDA executive director. “We’re honored that Congresswoman Martha Roby (Alabama District 2) will be our special guest.”

Mask said young professionals, 18 to 35, are particularly encouraged to attend “to get plugged in and begin networking with those who have been in their business for years.”

The June 9 event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Musical entertainment by Rob Thornhill and refreshments will be offered. Attire is business casual or casual -- attendees should dress for a summer afternoon outdoors.

Cost to attend the social is $10 per person. Advance reservations are required and must be made no later than June 6 at 5 p.m.

“We encourage people to register online,” said Lindsay B. Jordan, ECEDA project manager. “It’s very simple. They can find the Unity Social link on the Events page of www.visitelmoreco.com.”

ECEDA initiated its Unity events in January 2010 and such gatherings are held quarterly. Price Publications Inc. (The Wetumpka Herald, The Eclectic Observer and The Tallassee Tribune) is the title sponsor for next week’s social. Corporate sponsors are ASE Credit Union and Alagasco.
