Lowe's Home Improvement Opens in Wetumpka

June 27, 2008

The much anticipated opening of the Lowe's Home Improvement Center in Wetumpka was greeting by a crowd of nearly one hundred people that were eager to see the first board cut. Lowe's has the Mayor of the City cut a board with a saw as their unique ceremony for opening a new store.

The indoor section of the Lowe's building is 94,667 square feet and consists of more than 44,000 items in stock according to the local general manager.

The Elmore County Economic Development Authority is proud that Lowe's has opened the new store in Elmore County.  Eric Basinger, Executive Director of ECEDA commented, "Lowe's represents what will be a domino effect for this area of Elmore County.  Now that Lowe's has located, we expect to see additional locations from restaurants and hotels come to Elmore County.  Every new location of a national retail store causes the advancement of the community to the next stage of its retail growth.  Big things are ahead for Elmore County."
