Business Spotlight: Tallassee Nutrition

What began as a simple visit for a drink has grown into a successful small business story that reflects the strong community support and quality of life that help entrepreneurs thrive in Elmore County.

Tallassee Nutrition has become a staple for residents looking for loaded teas, meal replacement shakes, and seasonal specialty drinks.

โ€œA lot of people say you canโ€™t stay in business in Tallassee,โ€ said Tallassee Chamber of Commerce Director Carmen Rodgers. โ€œTallassee Nutrition is proof thatโ€™s not true because five years in business selling teas is just fantastic.โ€

Owner Jailyn Lewisโ€™ journey began in Georgia, where she grew up before eventually meeting her fiancรฉ in Tallassee. During visits to the area, the couple stopped by Tallassee Nutrition, and Lewis quickly became a regular.

Lewis eventually took a job at the shop, learning the business and building relationships with customers. In 2021, she purchased Tallassee Nutrition and began putting her own touch on the business while maintaining its welcoming atmosphere.

โ€œI think of business as making personal connections,โ€ said Lewis. โ€œThe more you know somebody, the more you want to support them, so I really, really try to be kind and take care of every person who walks in.โ€

Those relationships, Lewis said, are what keep customers coming back. Many regulars stop by for their favorite loaded tea or protein shake, while others enjoy trying new drinks as she introduces seasonal menus and creative flavor combinations throughout the year.

โ€œPeople want to see something new and different,โ€ said Lewis. โ€œThey get bored with the same thing, so I try to get creative and do a new menu for every season.โ€

Stories like Tallassee Nutrition highlight how Elmore Countyโ€™s strong sense of community and supportive local economy create opportunities for small businesses to grow. For Lewis, the formula for success here is simple: make those connections and keep it creative.
