ELMORE COUNTY, Ala. βThe Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA), presenting sponsor of the 68th Alabama Open, welcomes participants during a pairings party, July 20, 2025, at the Robert Trent Jones (RTJ) Golf Trail at Capitol Hill.
The Alabama Open is the most prestigious golf tournament in the state, drawing top-tier professional and amateur golfers from across the region. This marks the third year ECEDA has sponsored the event.
βSponsoring this event has meant a lot to Elmore County,β said Lisa Van Wagner, Executive Director of ECEDA. βRTJ at Capitol Hill has been one of the best venues for golf, not just in the state but in the country.β
As part of its mission to drive economic growth through business development, tourism, and community investment, ECEDA sees the Alabama Open as a prime opportunity to boost the local economy and showcase Elmore Countyβs outdoor recreation and hospitality assets.
βIβm very pleased to announce that we are extending our contract with Alabama Open, and we are delighted to be able to continue hosting the event here,β said Van Wagner.
Following the welcome address, guest speakers, Chris Stewart, broadcaster for the Crimson Tide Sports Network, and Jason Campbell, former quarterback and current radio analyst for Auburn University, built excitement for the tournament with stories about sportsmanship and teamwork, as well as a question-and-answer session.
The pairings party concluded with a discussion from tournament director Wade Dockery about the Alabama Openβs format and rules.
The Alabama Open Pro-Am, scheduled for July 21, 2025, held in conjunction with the Alabama Open, scheduled for July 22-24, 2025, features 54 holes of individual stroke play, with a cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes.
