Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, serving Chilton, Autauga, and Elmore County, offers a safe, child-friendly environment to children victimized by abuse or neglect, providing restoration and justice in their lives.

Having close relationships with the district attorneyโ€™s office, local law enforcement, child protective services, therapists, case workers, interns, nurses, and volunteers, Butterfly Bridge has a strong team that can handle the most difficult of situations.

In the last quarter, the Elmore County team provided 421 total services, including 2 medical exams, 3 multidisciplinary team meetings, 30 forensic interviews, 82 counseling sessions, 92 cases staffed, and 130 advocacy services.

โ€œThese statistics represent children whose voices were heard, families who received support, and hope that continues to grow through our communityโ€™s care and compassion,โ€ said Emily Hutcheson, Assistant Director of Butterfly Bridge.

One of the core services at Butterfly Bridge Childrenโ€™s Advocacy Center is the Forensic Interview. Their specially trained staff conduct these legally sound, fact-finding interviews at the request of law enforcement or the Department of Human Resources during child abuse investigations.

Each interview allows children to share their experiencesโ€”in their own wordsโ€”if abuse has occurred, helping professionals gather the information needed to protect them and seek justice.

โ€œWe believe every child deserves to be heard, believed, and protected,โ€ said Hutcheson. โ€œThis process helps ensure children only have to tell their story once, which helps minimize trauma.โ€

When children are safe, families and communities grow stronger. Butterfly Bridgeโ€™s work not only brings healing to victims of abuse but also strengthens the social fabric that supports a thriving Elmore County.
