Located in downtown Wetumpka, First Choice Women’s Medical Center offers free pregnancy testing, limited OB ultrasounds, pregnancy decision coaching, parenting classes, and fatherhood support. For Center Director Tisha Powell, the organization’s mission extends far beyond providing individual services.

“We offer free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, pregnancy decision coaching, and parenting classes which allow moms and dads to earn free supplies for their children,” Powell said. “We also offer specific classes and support for dads.”

Beyond meeting immediate needs, First Choice focuses on creating lasting relationships with the families it serves. Every interaction is designed to provide a welcoming environment where individuals feel supported, respected, and equipped to make informed decisions.

“We hope people experience a place of refuge, a safe place full of hope, no matter what is going on outside of our doors,” Powell said. “They will be met with kindness, respect, and love. We hope every man and woman feels seen, educated, and empowered.

When parents have access to education, resources, and community support, they are better equipped to build stable homes and prepare for the future. Those strong foundations help strengthen neighborhoods, schools, and the broader Elmore County community.

“I wish more people could experience who we really are,” Powell said. “We are more than just a place to get a pregnancy test. We desire to form long-term, meaningful relationships with those in the communities we serve. Our work is built on trust, connection, and ongoing support.”

As Elmore County continues to grow, First Choice remains focused on investing in the future by supporting today’s families.
