Elmore County Economic Development Authority Hosts
Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association Tournament

ELMORE COUNTY, AL – On Saturday, February 18th, the Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) will host the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association (ASABFA) on Lake Jordan. Approximately 230 boats will compete in this qualifying tournament. Each team will consist of a captain and two student anglers. Boats will launch from Bonner’s Point Ramp and State Ramp at first safe light. The public is invited to attend weigh-ins and award ceremonies at the Wetumpka Sports Complex on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM.

ASABFA is the official governing body in Alabama for high school bass fishing and is one of the largest independent fishing organizations in the U.S. It is the mission of ASABFA to promote the sport of bass fishing among Alabama’s youth in a positive environment in which every student angler may develop a healthy sense of competition and an appreciation of Alabama’s natural resources.

“We are excited that Elmore County has once again been selected to partner with ASABFA, a great organization that gets young anglers participating in conservation and learning more about our local natural resources,” said Elmore County Commission Chairman Bart Mercer. “We welcome the opportunity to share beautiful Lake Jordan, one of the premier fishing lakes in the country.”

Art Faulkner, Chairman of ECEDA, said, “This is a great team sporting event for Elmore County, not only for the anglers and their families, but also for our citizens. The economic impact of selling hotel rooms, meals, tanks of gas, and supplies is tremendous, not to mention return trips to enjoy the many wonderful things Elmore County has to offer. ECEDA is honored to partner with ASABFA for this event.”
