The Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) is set to host the Alabama Student Anglers Bass Fishing Associationโ€™s (ASABFA) Kick-Off Tournament on Saturday, September 13, 2025, on the Alabama River.

This exciting event will bring together junior and high school anglers from across the state. Each team will consist of two student anglers and one adult captain.

Boats will launch from the Cooters Pond Ramp in Prattville at approximately 4:00 a.m., with blast-off scheduled at first safe light. The park and ramp have been reserved in partnership with the City of Prattville Parks and Recreation Department.

Weigh-in will be held on Saturday, October 13, followed by the awards presentation. Please note that there will be no Friday evening rules meeting.

Organizers anticipate between 100 and 125 boats, drawing student anglers from across Alabama. As the stateโ€™s official governing body of high school bass fishing, ASABFA continues to promote the sport in a supportive, positive, and educational environment for Alabamaโ€™s youth.

โ€œThis tournament not only highlights the beauty and accessibility of the Alabama River but also gives young people an opportunity to develop teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love for the outdoors,โ€ said Lisa Van Wagner, Executive Director of ECEDA.

Van Wagner added, โ€œHosting events of this scale helps showcase Elmore County as a destination for outdoor recreation and family-friendly activities, which ultimately supports our local businesses and community growth.โ€

Teams must register by Wednesday, September 10. Registration is available online at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeLP4TSyinxOeMPJ2alkt8R7Sen5H8_9aK88EkmwARCChirKQ/viewform.
