Elmore County Economic Development Authority and City of Wetumpka to Host River Region Kayak Anglers Big Fish Challenge

WETUMPKA, AL – The Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) and the City of Wetumpka are hosting the River Region Kayak Anglers Big Fish Challenge on the Coosa River this Saturday, June 24th. Approximately 50 kayakers from across the State are expected to be in Wetumpka to compete for cash and prizes. The tournament is open to everyone and the $50 entry fee (cash only) is due at registration. Registration and a mandatory captains meeting will be held on Friday at 6:00 PM at the Wetumpka City Hall Administration Building located at 408 S. Main Street.

On Saturday, Kayaks will launch from any public access on Lake Jordan or the Coosa River. The boundaries of the tournament include Lake Jordan to the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers at Ft. Toulouse.  The weigh-in and awards ceremony will take place at 4:00 PM at the Wetumpka City Hall Administration Building. There will be a guaranteed $500 prize for the biggest fish in addition to paid place prizes.
