ELMORE COUNTY, AL – The Elmore County Economic Development Authority (ECEDA) is hosting the inaugural Alabama Crappie Trail (ACT) State Championship on Friday, June 9th, and Saturday, June 10th. Approximately 30 two-person teams from all over the Southeastern U.S. will compete on the Alabama River and Lake Jordan. Boats can launch from any public ramp. Weigh-ins will be held at Wetumpka High School starting at 2:00 pm each day. The awards ceremony will begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday. Over $10,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded, including $2,500 to the points champion. The public is invited to attend all events.
“We’re excited that Elmore County was selected for ACT’s inaugural championship and that these anglers get to experience the beauty of our fisheries that we enjoy all year long. I wish all participants a safe tournament and look forward to seeing them in Elmore County again next season”, said Elmore County Commission Chairman Bart Mercer.
ECEDA Chairman Art Faulkner said “ECEDA is honored to partner once again with ACT and their efforts to promote our great crappie fishing. Fishing tournaments generate a tremendous economic impact to our community, as well as return trips to enjoy everything Elmore County has to offer”.
